NC (vo): First off, let's address the biggest misconception: This is not a Tim Burton-directed movie. This is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. NC: So this is Halloween.or is it Christmas? (Whispers) It's clearly Halloween. So what is it about this holiday film that becomes more and more popular when other holiday films seem to fade into the crowd? Well, we're finally gonna watch it from beginning to end to find out. Based on Tim Burton's short story of the same name, it takes, honestly, a very complicated and abstract idea and makes it surprisingly simple to follow and enjoy. (Posters of Coraline and ParaNorman are shown) It also started one of my favorite fads of stop-motion kids' movies that are wonderfully more dark and twisted than most kids' movies are, and they're given a free pass by parents because, well, they remember it being fun when The Nightmare Before Christmas did it. Merchandise sells like mad, people love to dress up as the characters, even the Haunted Mansion is given a makeover in fall and winter to reflect the characters and story. NC (vo): Though only a modest success when it came out in 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas has exploded into one of the most popular icons associated with Halloween, and, yes, even Christmas. (The film's title is shown, before showing its footage)

NC: Since over the years, I've discovered this new thing called 'liking stuff', I decided this Nostalgia-Ween is the perfect time to do it.

NC (vo): We've talked about Nightmare Before Christmas a few times on this show, but never done a full review. (A clip of the 2013 Nostalgia-Ween opening, which references the movie about to be mentioned and reviewed, is shown) Then, we see Hyper Fangirl, Aunt Despair, Bill, and Santa Christ riding on a witch's broom) The Critic cartoonishly steps toward the fridge. (The Channel Awesome logo plays, followed by the 2021 Nostalgia-Ween opening.
